Landmark · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Once the site of old Ajaccio's medieval gate, Place Foch is an architectural monument designed in the 18th century. At its center stands the 28 m (92 ft) column erected in 1790 as a tribute to freedom. Placed atop the column during the restoration stands a statue of King Louis XVI, which is why many locals call this monument Place Louis XVI.
