  • Enjoyed walking over the bridge and then seeing quite a few ruins from the 13th century. Not a major tourist attraction, but if you like off the beaten path like I do, you will appreciate this place.  more »
  • Very interesting old fortress surrounded by a huge lake. A good walk around takes an hour with bird life in abundance. Very historical. Easy car parking well worth a visit.  more »
  • Interesting archeological site, a piece of the Middle Ages
  • Næsholm Borgruin and Nygård Sø are located approximately 100 metres from Nygårdsvej, roughly midway between Højby and Nykøbing Sjælland. The road to the fabled Næsholm castle ruin goes via re-established Palebro over Nygård Lake, which surrounds the old castle as of ancient times. The new Peony Bridge is an almost completely accurate reconstruction of the original bridge, which, together with the castle plant is dated to the year 1278, and whose original post-residue remains visible since Nygård Sø dried out completely in 1870. Solid, local oak wood from the forests of Odsherred is used for the construction, where everything is assembled with dowels. Only those places where the pillars are anchored in the lake floor have galvanized steel applied.
