St. Alban's Church, Copenhagen

#9 of 45 in Historic Sites in Copenhagen
Church · Hidden Gem · Landmark
St. Alban's Church remains a charming example of Victorian architecture and the Gothic Revival style in the center of the Danish capital. Nestled in a peaceful park within a stone's throw from the Gefion Fountain, it was built as a traditional English parish church in 1887. Pay attention to colorful stained glass windows and delicately crafted altar and pulpits. Every hour you can hear the tubular bells from the lofty tower chime--seven of those are the latest addition donated by the Prince of Wales in 2013. The coated sheet at the entrance provides information on the history of the church. Find out how to plan Copenhagen trip without stress by asking Inspirock to help create an itinerary.

  • In the lovely area of Copenhagen by the Kastellet, the church stands out as you enter the area. Once on by the moat there are several grand settings from where to view the church.  more »
  • Very Nice church and fountain outside. You walk here on the way to the little mermaid. Would reccomend take this walk and stop here to take some photos.  more »
  • Very atmospheric place. Church is very much the same, as it was built few centuries ago, except it has electric illumination now. Tourists are welcome here (free, of course), when church is open. A helpful lady at the entrance invites you, asks which country you are from and gives you a laminated paper guide on your language. Guide is informative and actually interesting. It seems, they have 25+ languages available. This is the place, you definitely have to visit.
  • A wonderful little church serving the Anglican community on an aptly named street. The stained glass windows are glowing on the sunny day we visited. Very well maintained and is a credit to the Church council and congregation. Handed a very informative briefing about the church and St. Alban on entering.
