See the city from the top of Our Saviour's Church, built of red and yellow bricks in the Dutch Baroque style. Although builders completed work on the church in 1695, it took nearly six more decades to finish its famous corkscrew spire, which was designed by architect Lauritz de Thurah. According to urban legend, the architect jumped to his death from the top of his creation when he realized it twisted in the counterclockwise direction. The spire reaches a height of 90 m (295 ft) and features an external staircase, which you can climb for a suggested fee. Be sure to explore the interior of the church, noted for housing an altarpiece depicting Jesus and two angels, considered the masterpiece of artist Nicodemus Tessin. I do not even know why, but this was one of the most relaxing places I have visited. Really beautiful sculptures of angels, silence and white color around did it, as far as I am concerned . There are much more extravagant and artistic churches, but this one is somehow special. Yes, the tower and a view are also nice, but the best thing for me was the atmosphere inside the church.

A fun climb. Great view of the city from way up on the top. The climb doesn’t take very long and it’s really cool to see the inside on the way up. Stairs get narrower and narrower near the top until at the very top it’s only wide enough for one person. If you’re able, make this climb!
