Enjoy an atypically comfortable stroll and cruise on the small river flowing through the dark caverns of Cuevas de Santo Tomas. Cave exploration is often perceived as a strenuous experience, but that's not the case here. After taking a short walk through the cave and observing the stalactite and stalagmite formations, you can hitch a relaxing ride on a boat to a landing outside. Due to the lack of light, narrow spaces and uneven terrain, the experience might not be suitable for elderly people or children. We joined the official guided tour and there English speaking guide in the entrance to lead all people in a specific time schedule. There was also private one but the locals told us better to join the official one. They would provide you the helmet (with lamp) in the ticket office. The cave is very big so we could only visit a part of it. Completely dark in some points as the cave was well preserved naturally without any additional stuff built. The part open for public is not that difficult to walk. It's an very interesting experience and recommend to all.

If you have never visited a cave before this cave would be great. However, the tour is very slow and no as interesting as other cave tours I have been on. You never get truly deep into the cave (you can always see light from the outside). 10 CUC per person. 25 CUC for a taxi from Vinales that will wait for you. Don't pay any more than this!
