Cueva del Indio, Vinales

#3 of 9 in Nature in Pinar del Rio Province
Cave · Nature / Park
View the many Taino petroglyphs at Cueva del Indio, a cave on the water along the jagged coastline. Step back to an era that likely took place before Columbus' discovery of the Americas, in an area where Taino Indians are thought to have conducted tribal meetings. During these ceremonies, experts postulate, the Taino would make the mysterious inscriptions and drawings on the cave walls. This cave has the largest number of petroglyphs along the coast. Wear appropriate shoes as the terrain on the trail leading to the site can be challenging. To visit Cueva del Indio on your trip to Vinales, use our Vinales online day trip planner.
