Explore the area that Costa Ricans call 'the lungs of San Jose' during a visit to Parque La Sabana, a large metropolitan park. The 72 ha (177 acre) park is known as the home of the country's national soccer stadium, as well as many other sports facilities, including running and skating tracks, and soccer fields. Formerly the site of the country's main airport, the terminal building still stands, although it has now been converted into the national art gallery.     Dirty, run down park with nothing in it. The ponds that show blue on the map are green algae covered unattractive pools.  more »

    I live close to Parque la Sabana--and walk my dog there just about every morning. It is a well maintained urban park, with excellent security. We have not had a problem--for years--there are guards....  more »

    Great park for all activities. You can go for walk or run. There's a path for off road biking. There's an area for roller blades and all the court activities.

    It's the largest urban park in San Jose... with museums, restaurants and hotels nearby. It can be unsafe after dark and even during the day if you are careless. There are efforts to keep it clean... but the average Costa Rican still doesn't care about littering public spaces.
