Built in 1917 and still used on a daily basis Correos de Costa Rica houses the national post office, tourism office, and Philatelic museum. The structure was designed by a foreign architect and showcases an eclectic mix of styles, with the nation’s coat of arms displayed on the central facade. Inside, it contains items of historical significance, such as old telegraphic equipment and the first Costa Rican stamps, which date back to 1863.     San Jose’ looks a bit rundown but you can find some amazing “finds” hidden away and this is one of it. The beautiful post office just sit majestic and call for a stop. Wonderful building.  more »

    Beautiful and historical architecture. It was simple inside. You need to take off your hats or caps to enter. Staff who took care of us couldn’t speak English but nice and patient with us who cannot speak Spanish.
