  • As with other posts there are “coconut salesman” checking out your car and other roving thieves looking to capitalize. Went for a sunset stroll and came back to a machete wielding punk demanding...  more »
  • This was a small drive from Quepos, but it was so pristine and had fantastic waves for every skill level. Loved it!  more »
  • The beach is long, lots of trees to protect from sun, not a lot of people visit this beach so it's pretty good if you want to be alone, specially when the people aren't on vacation.
  • We spent many days on this super long, probably over 2-miles in length, mostly deserted beach. Deserted of tourists but used by Ticos on vacation and of course by the residents of Matapalo; yet, there are very few people on the entire beach. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays seem to be the busy days with a few more people on the beach. The north end of the beach is known as Playa Matapalo and the south end is called Playa Linda, but they are both one beach. The town of Matapalo is about 1-km from the beach, which has one store and one restaurant. Expect some young guys to approach to sell you coconuts, but that’s about all there are as far as beach vendors. This is not a swimming beach, but it’s great for boogie boards and good body surfing and playing in the surf, and for surfing for experienced surfers. There is a big difference in water conditions between high tide and low tide. During low tide you can walk way out into the water and it is only waist deep, but watch out for the larger waves. There is an undertow, so use caution. The full moon and new moon create much bigger waves. This is our favorite beach in the Manuel Antonio - Dominical area. Be cautious of your belongs and store them safely. We have not had a problem, just joy playing in the water. We watched surfers and boogie boarders playing in the ocean.
