Get up close to some Costa Rican wildlife at Sibu Wildlife Sanctuary, an animal rescue center focusing on the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured local animals. Place yourself amid untouched nature at the sanctuary, which sits among thousands of acres of jungle. The center focuses primarily on howler monkeys. However, you can spot other animals, such as raccoons, capuchins, Mexican hairy porcupines, anteaters, skunks, and the famous local peccary, Lupita. Tours by reservation only.     Educational but not what we'd expected. We'd been to the Osa Animal Refuge Center in the southern part of the country - it was large with many animals.  more »

    This was an amazing place. Worth every penny and you will never forget your visit. Best part of our visit to Costa Rica. The people who run the sanctuary are kind and down to earth. Great tour and information session. So many animals and monkeys! They come right up to humans. Incredible!

    Sibu is an amazing facility whose main goal is to look out for the health and welfare of its animals, with the goal of releasing those animals into the wild if at all possible. I encourage you to check out what they do and donate if you are able. They have helped so many animals in the area and their heart is in the right place.
