Worth seeing if you are nearby the royal palace or seeing the independence monument anyway. Very grand statue overlooking a relatively sparse park with mostly grass and walkways. Some people nearby jogging or riding a skateboard. Notices to be respectful at this park. Quick visit, nice to walk in green area but could be missed if you don’t have time.
It’s worthwhile to visit and also to take a short stroll around this formally laid out greenery, the centrepiece of which is a statue of Norodom Sihanouk - hands clasped in front of his waist in a decidedly uninspiring pose. This monument is what Nelson’s column in London’s Trafalgar Square ought to be - with wild birds using King Father’s head as a landing pad and respite from the sweltering heat, scorching conditions which aren’t helped by the total lack of trees along this boulevard. The only green colour here comes from the artificially watered desert of a lawn - home to absolutely nothing except ants, and the remnants of skewers of a dismembered and immature chicken, or cow, or pig. The paving around the pavilion is smooth and without bumps, and makes an ideal space for running strides - if you’re training on your speed to supplement your mileage.
