Drupthob Thangtong Dewachen Nunnery is most popularly known as Zilukha Anim Dratshang and is located on a gentle slope overlooking the Thimphu Valley. It has, over recent times, become one of the most visited cultural heritage site and spiritual centre by foreign visitors/tourists as well as the local people.

It was built in 1976 by the 16th emanation/reincarnation of Thangtong Gyalpo, Drubthob Rikey Jadrel. The nunnery, with a strength of about 60 nuns, is well-known for providing spiritual needs of the community and undertakes continuous activities for the wellbeing and benefit of the people.

    We took a short visit to this amazing nunnery whilst waiting for the evening opening time of Tashichho Dzong. It is a few minutes drive up the hill and affords an amazing view back down to the Dzong.....  more »
