Located on the city's northern edge near the Wangchhu River, Tashichho Dzong (Thimpu Dzong) has served as the seat of Bhutan's civil government and the summer capital since the inception of its monarchy. First constructed in 1216, the dzong has experienced constant changes, renovations, and enlargements throughout its history, combining religious and governmental facilities into one. Towers punctuate the fortress-like structure, while the manicured gardens and lawns complement the impressive building. Wear proper clothing during your visit or you may be asked to leave. Really Amazed. Superb Architecture. A must watch place in Paro. Again in house guide was superb with depth knowledge of Bhutan history. Buddha's 12 years statue was amazing. Monks houses were beautiful. Wooden architecture was really superb.

A group of majestic buildings that are the administration uses to carry out their day to day functions. The architecture of the buildings is traditional Bhutanese and it has an air of simplicity and majesty. The beauty of Bhutanese architecture for me has been the intricacies of their design and their innovation with the few basic elements that they use.
