Turn a prayer wheel at Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Bhutan. Originally built in the 7th century, it was one of the 108 temples made to pin down a giant legendary ogress who was preventing the spread of Buddhism. Numerous prayer wheels with colorful ornaments and butter-lit lamps decorate the inner courtyard, where you can observe elderly pilgrims spinning them. A quiet and peaceful place, the temple has simple architecture housing a collection of 11 Buddha statues. Two orange trees in the courtyard are believed to bear fruit throughout the year.
