Must see · Military Museum · History Museum
Admire the preserved World War I and II fortifications in their original condition at Atlantikwall Raversyde. The Atlantic wall was a defense system built mostly by the Nazis during World War II to protect against the Allied forces. The museum's portion of the wall includes 2 km (1.24 mi) of trenches and 60 bunkers. Exhibits include World War II propaganda, dioramas, and photographs, as well as a cinema that screens documentaries. There are also activities for children including a treasure hunt through the museum. Be prepared for a lot of walking, as this museum covers a lot of ground, and be sure to bring an umbrella rain is in the forecase, as many of the museum's focal elements are outdoors. • While a bit hard to drive too - small roads with lots of bikes and people - great place to go! Kids loved the walking tour, and want to return to see the open exhibits. WWI and WWII covered. Worth...  more »

  • Amazing journey to the war. You need to go to understand this part of this historical moment.
  • Excellent Museum. There is much more to see here than I expected. The visit to the First World War battery is interesting, but the Second World War battery is the highlight. Excellent audio guide and self guided tour through the tunnels and fortifications. There is quite a bit of walking, steep steps and low tunnels, so not perhaps for the less physically able, but otherwise highly recommended.
