Experience the theme park of one of Belgium's much-loved performers at Bobbejaanland. Founded in 1960 by Bobbejaan Schoepen, a Flemish musician and entertainer, the attraction was owned by the same family until 2004. It began as a performance venue with seating for 1,000 people, but slowly evolved into a theme park with rides; today it boasts over 400 employees. Josée Schoepen, Bobbejaan's wife, also amassed a large collection of Hopi and Navajo artwork, one of the rare collections of Native American art in Europe. The 50 attractions, which will make you scream and laugh in turn, include roller coasters, water slides, traditional carnival rides, and shows. Many of the park's rides are intense, with bragging rights as some of the fastest and longest roller coasters in Europe. Buy tickets online or upon arrival. Went there with my girlfriend on a thursday in the middle of August. It was a calm day with 30 degrees Celsius (probably also 'thanks to' the Corona). Waiting times were between 0 and 5 minutes, so.... more »
