Learn about the legacy of the fried potato at Friet Museum, the only museum dedicated to what most know people as "French fries." Fries actually originated in Belgium, and this museum tracks the development of the ubiquitous side dish and its cultural significance to its home country. The same two families that opened the Belgium Chocolate Museum are responsible for this attraction, which is housed inside Bruges' oldest building. Start your tour with an overview of the history of potatoes, a mainstay crop for the nation. Move on to learn about the equipment used to cook them, from ovens to deep friers. Modern artists' versions of the fry in sculpture and painting are displayed alongside engaging exhibits celebrating Belgium's relationship to fries. If you've worked up an appetite, try a sample of the tasty fries at the end of your self-guided tour. Purchase your tickets when you arrive, or email the museum to make reservations. Make your own fries at home using recipes from their website. Use Inspirock's suggestions to plan your Bruges trip and find the best activities and attractions for your vacation.

Brilliant little museum for a great price. I found the information to be interesting and my partner really enjoyed the interactive elements. The cafe at the end was amazing, simply the best chips I had in Brugge... you even get 40 cents off your order with your entry ticket. If your love chips this is a must!

Well worth the trip and entrance. Interesting history and the chips at the end are great. One of the staff turned us away about 90min before they closed and we had to go the next day. If I were go to back I would have been more insistent on going inside the first day.
