Squeaky Beach, Wilsons Promontory National Park

Squeaky Beach takes its name from the sound it makes when you walk across its rounded quartz grains. A fine landscape accompanies the unusual soundscape--white sand meets turquoise water, and granite headlands sit on the horizon. At the northern end of the beach, wander among granite boulders that form a labyrinth.

  • Two people drowned here yesterday on Christmas Day. It’s a national park, and there are no surf life savers. If you can’t swim, DO NOT GO SWIMMING HERE ;-(  more »
  • Beautiful beach that is definitely worth a visit! The sand is so white and does squeak when you walk on it.  more »

  • Sand really does squeak! A beautiful beach. Rocks to climb. Mountains in background.
  • Was definitely a squeaky beach, very lovely white sand and many rocks to play on or explore.
