Wolston Farmhouse, Wacol

#18 of 43 in Historic Sites in Brisbane Region
Historic Site · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
At Wolston Farmhouse life is conducted at a slower pace. High tea on the verandah need not be hurried. On a Summer’s afternoon the cooling breeze is welcomed, as are you.

Wolston is available for hire for weddings and other functions.

Wolston Farmhouse is the oldest surviving residential farmhouse in Brisbane, a pre-Separation structure commenced in brick and completed in stone. The home of a Crown Commissioner for Lands, pastoralists, and dairy farmers, Wolston Farmhouse on a rise overlooking the Brisbane River is both aesthetically pleasing and, in its fabric, indicative of quality techniques and workmanship of the nineteenth century.

  • I have been to the high tea twice - both times were excellent but the first time was exceptional. A year ago the high tea used a lot of details that history buffs will love - they served the high tea on original vintage China and had beautiful vintage tableware (embroidered cloth napkins etc.). I also think that the food was a bit more traditional "olden times" . they now stopped most of the vintage ware but the whole atmosphere, sitting on the deck watching kangurus hop in the distance while sipping on your coffee makes it well worthwhile. All staff are fantastic too and so knowledgeable about the farmhouse.
  • We went there for a special breakfast on father's day. The atmosphere on the deck was quite relxing with some beautiful and delicious things served. You should definitely try the guided tour around the house. People there are very knowledgeable and friendly. Also, lots of wild roos around there which is nice to take visitors form overseas. Definitely would recommend going there.
