Home to the world’s longest-running surfing competition, Bells Beach is widely recognized as one of the best surfing beaches in Victoria. At this beach you can ride waves all day, or head to the rocky cliffs surrounding the coastline, from which you can watch some of the world’s best surfers perfecting their skills. Named after the family that lived in the area in the 1840s, the beach is popular with sightseers, who walk along the cliffs looking for the best vantage points, or picnic on the sand as the sun goes down. Keep in mind that due to its exposed reef and rough waves, the beach is most suited to experienced surfers. Using our custom trip planner, Torquay attractions like Bells Beach can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.
Bells Beach reviews
We walked down to the lookout which is still high on the hill overlooking the beautiful beaches. Even though it was overcast and windy it was still picturesque to enjoy and photograph. more »
We stopped at Bella Beach just to check it out and wow, I was surprised how long the beach was and how many people were out there surfing. We stayed up at the lookout platforms to take in the view. more »
Saw quite a few professional surfers on the beach. A surfing paradise. The waves were gorgeous. Very picturesque. Good for a beach walk.
One of my favourite places in Australia! Surfing paradise, bit be warned the water is freezing even in summer! The breaks are fantastic. Is a popular surfing destination all year long.
