The 8km three-hour return walking track from the trackhead at the foot of Mount Read near.
The track follows much of the route of the former 2ft narrow gauge North East Dundas Tramway and earlier views of the falls include the passing railway line
The proximity of the line to the falls was described in 1926:
This little railway is a "show" line of the highest order, for it dives quickly amongst the mountains, brushing the fringe of immense forests, and at one point giving a near view, of the hand- some Montezuma Falls-so near that the spray actually dashes at times against the carriage win- dows. From Williamsford one can take a motor for the five miles to Rosebery
Montezuma Falls reviews

We followed the old tramway to the falls with many old wooden rails and even and adit and wooden bridge to be seen along the way. The falls are huge but the rocks are slippery so beware. Took over..... more »
One of Tasmania's longest waterfalls a nice flat walk, best at this time of year as it can get a bit boggy with a lot of rain. 3 hours rtn alongside the old tram tracks with a daring and narrow swing bridge across to the other side giving full access to front on photos of the waterfall.
2-3 hours walk, simple trekking, no ups and downs, but expect real forest experience. Lot of watery and muddy paths to cross. Go with proper shoes. We walked in during day light and returned night with mobile torch, great experience, though not advisable. Hanging bridge was great, must go. There is an old closed mine on the way.
