The Gordon River is not only an amazing part of Tasmania but an area the whole country can be proud of. Best seen from one of the cruises that leave from Strahan it is worth the effort to visit this..... more »
Absolutely gorgeous! A must-do in Tasmania. There are two ways to see it. One is to take a day-trip on one of the big boat cruises. They go about 5 miles up the river to a place called Heritage Landing where there's a short but beautiful loop track. The other take an overnight trip on the yacht Stormbreaker (at West Coast Yacht Charters), which goes about 20 miles up the river to Sir John Falls. Since the river and the falls are so beautiful, it's well-worth considering an overnight trip.
Excellent place to visit. The vast expanse of the forest has to be seen to be believed
