Penguin Parade reviews

It’s great to watch hundreds of penguins coming out of the sea after sunset. Kids enjoyed a lot! Would recommend getting the tickets to Penguin plus. Got to see the penguins from really close. more »

We booked the Penguin plus option. Due to COVID restrictions there were only limited people allowed in the area to view the penguins come in so it wasn’t crowded at all. Penguins came in at about... more »

Fun way to spend a few hours. The parade is fun to watch. New visitor center opening in November 2019. Get there on the early side to get ocean view and stay to the right side of the stands so you can watch as they go up the paths. The penguins scuttle along the walk paths behind the stands and no crowds so you can see them have fun getting back to the burrows. Friendly staff. No pictures as it will kill them.

This is a great experience to be had...provided you have the right ticket. I did research from previous visitor reviews and was stuck between 'Premium Plus' and Guided tour. I picked the Guided Tour and it is by far the best option even though it is most expensive. Firstly you get a good summary from the ranger which puts what you see into context. Ours was warm and enthusiastic. Secondly and most important, you get the best viewing platform, infront of the rocks where they cross from the beach to begin their walk. You are very close to see the penguins doing there thing. Thirdly, you get binoculars which help add to the overall experience. General admission stands are about 200m away from the rock area where they begin their ascent out of the water and in my view wasted money. Premium plus are good if you can't get the guided ranger tour. At the end you can hang around a little longer and see the penguins again once This is great for anyone. Pay the extra for a great ticket!
