Construction of St David's Anglican Church, located practically across the road from the ruins of, and as a replacement for, the convict church at Port Arthur, commenced in May 1927. Up until that time Port Arthur and the surrounding district had been without a Church of England. St Davids Anglican Church is now an established part of the local Anglican parish.
