The Big Pineapple, Nambour

The experience was nice for the kids but the front desk lady was definitely not happy to be working there and the price was a bit high. Animals were good though. Sad to see such a vibrant place go into disrepair when you first walk in.

Well what can I say. I visited here 30 or so years ago when it was a thriving tourism business. I still remember the Sundae I ate. I think my mum kept the pictures somewhere of us in front if the Pineapple. Now I have my own kids and took them here to show them the Pineapple. Took some pictures of them in front of the Pineapple. I know everything else is gone but I am happy to see the Pineapple still stands. Great to see it has a new paint job but disappointed that the inside was not open and we could not go inside. About one year ago I made the trip there and inside the Pineapple was open but very dirty and leaking water everywhere. Shame on you Queensland Tourism(or local council) for not stepping in and at least making sure this landmark is kept clean and open to the public. I have read stories about selling off to foreign investors and buying back after not being able to develop. What a shame that there is not even a community run Pineapple Plantation here that could sell the pineapples and put the money back into it.
