At Half Moon Bay, enjoy the sea, sun, and sand without having to leave Melbourne. Situated in an affluent, family-friendly suburb of the city, this crescent-shaped bay boasts a long sandy beach that gently slopes into the sea. The clear waters abound with marine life offering good snorkeling opportunities, and the historic shipwreck of HMVS Cerberus--the only surviving monitor warship of the Australian colonial navies--acts as a barrier reef. The cliffs along the beach, which were featured in the movie "Mad Max," serve as excellent vantage points. Amenities include a yacht club, restaurant, and beach kiosk. Great beach. Has public toilets and cafe. People need to pick up their own rubbish. All day parking cost is $17. People smoked on the beach. Otherwise great for kids and paddling.
Gorgeous beach with good facilities (public toilets, cafe etc.) beautiful clear water and a great place to take your kayak for a paddle in the bay. TOP TIP: the beach to the left of the sailing club was a lot quieter but just as pretty!
