Melbourne’s oldest park is Flagstaff Gardens, originally established in 1862. Located in an area steeped in history, the park includes a memorial marking the graves of the city’s first European settlers. The sprawling gardens form an important ecological area, which includes mature Morton Bay figs, elms, and eucalyptus trees. Extensive lawns and well-maintained rose and shrub beds are lined by these old trees, which shade long pathways enjoyed by picnickers, walkers, and cyclists. Get some exercise at the park’s tennis courts, which can be used for a number of sports, such as volleyball, handball, and netball. Electric barbecues are available to visitors all year long. Our Melbourne trip builder website makes visiting Flagstaff Gardens and other Melbourne attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.
