Climb 2.5 km (1.4 miles) up The Pinnacle and you will be rewarded at the top with a feeling of accomplishment and a spectacular view overlooking the Grampians district. Choose between two routes based on your preferred level of difficulty. The Wonderland route is more strenuous with a continuous ascent via pathways and inclined steps; it involves some rock hopping and walking through a narrow gap in Silent Street. The Sundial route is much flatter with a less steep incline. Follow the yellow arrows to the top. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Halls Gap holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the The Pinnacle and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Ok. So here’s how the day went. Parked at Wonderland Carpark (mid difficulty) and my gosh it wasn’t easy. Made it to the top after about 90 mins and the view is spectacular. Unluckily for us, the... more »
We drove from Stawell to come to the Sundial carpark. It wasn't until we were well past Halls Gap that there was a sign saying that the Sundial carpark needed to be accessed from a particular road... more »
Amazing views! Of course that’s the reason to go, but the signage of the tracks is limited so here are some tips. One entrance is next to the Halls Gap swimming pool, there is all day parking in town on the street and car park. Or next to the tennis courts. Walk on the town side of the little creek at the back of the Halls Gap caravan park and you will see the signs. Don’t be miss-led the ‘quick’ 4.5km walk to the top is very steep and in the heat you will need to be relatively fit and take lots of water and snacks. It’s at least 2 hours up the hill. Wear stable and grippy shoes too as it’s easy to kick rocks and you need the grip. An alternative route is via the Wonderland car park. This is 2.5km and an easier walk but still significant effort. If you walk this way all the way to town you can also see the Venus pools, but it’s an extra hour or more that way. Best of luck!
Not too tough a walk to the top, with clearly marked paths. A bit steep but nothing too hard. Quite busy up the top, with a long queue for the pinnacle. Lots of other good places to take photos up the top, without needing to wait
