Cape Tourville Lighthouse, Coles Bay

#8 of 68 in Historic Sites in Tasmania
Lighthouse · Tourist Spot
To see the Wineglass Bay from above, take a scenic drive up to Cape Tourville Lighthouse. The short drive takes only a few minutes and winds through the Freycinet National Park, with several lookouts offering views of the Sleepy Bay and the clear blue waters of the Tasman Sea. This unmanned lighthouse was built in 1971 to replace an older and nearly inaccessible lighthouse located on the nearby Lemon Rock. Don’t forget to bring your camera, a light picnic, and plenty of water. Keep an eye out for whales, which many visitors report seeing in the bay, and remember that in order to access this lighthouse you do need to purchase a 24-hour park entry pass.
