Old Dubbo Gaol offers insight into bygone era of harsh prison life. Old gallows are still in the courtyard. Holographic displays portray conditions endured by inmates; you will hear and see an animated image of condemned man due for a death sentence. Visitors will small children should be aware that an isolation cell in total darkness may be scary and spooky. Guided tours available at day or night. Let’s face it, the zoo & the RFDS are the pick of Dubbo’s attractions, but if you have more time up your sleeve, add the gaol to your sightseeing. We even participated in the afternoon stage show. more »

If you like visiting old jails then this place is for you. Make sure you read all the signs as they have detailed description of the events happening there. They offer twilight and night tours. Both include a day entrance on the day or the day after. I didn't think that a night tour was something very special, but the tour guide was passionate and a good story teller. They also let you use emf readers to find ghosts (if that's something for you). But being in the jail when it's pitch black was pretty cool.

Loved it! The show was a highlight. Some of the stories you will read are quite haunting. I don't think i would survive one of the ghost tours that are offered!
