National Museum of Australia
National Museum of Australia features interactive exhibits and groups of items divided by concept rather than era. The museum profiles 50,000 years of indigenous heritage, early European settlements, and modern events, such as the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The world's largest collection of aboriginal bark paintings and stone tools is on display. Other popular displays include the heart of champion racehorse Phar Lap and the Holden Prototype Number 1 car. Spend a rainy day here learning about the country's history, recent developments, and subjects unique to Australia, such as surf lifesaving and bushrangers. Put National Museum of Australia and other Canberra attractions into our Canberra travel itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

I suggest visitors take a torch as some exhibits are poorly lit. Many of the information boards are way too low to read, requiring the visitor to bow or kneel so as the information is anything close to eye level. Too many exhibits belong in an art gallery and not a museum. More emphasis needs to place on the financial benefits many of the exhibits made and continue to make for Australia. Overall a pleasing visit.

Such a great experience.... a highly recommend place and a must see venue The place is very well organized and maintained. It is free for General admission but you have to pay for some special events and exhibitions Its a great place for the whole family, a special place from little kids to do some activities (dress up, coloring and playing with blocks) I highly recommend this place and hope that you will enjoy it as well
