Catch a Barra, Cairns

Nice enough place. But like others have said. Catch a Barra. Is not what it seems. It's a bit of a expensive scam. * A little pond with smallish fish. * fishing gear designed not to catch fish. ( crappy lures with 1 tiny hook, the hooks on fishing rods are small & barely fits the pellet (which is only bait permitted) on it. The pellet is very hard & can't be threaded on hook. Rather it fits in the curve of the hook, covering the hook tip. So fish take it, but rarely get hooked & hooks are not tied properly, & knots regularly slip when you do get a hook up. I caught 2 fish only after cutting of hooks & gear & doing my own knots on line & hooks, after loosing 2 previous hook up. 1 wasn't hooked properly because of oversized pellet covering the hook tip. The other lost because knot slipped on other hook up. Also I made the pellet a little damp so I could put the hook through it & split it in half so the hook tip was free & exposed. Things a novice wouldn't work out. * the owner uses 15min of your $60 hour fishing time,to explain rules. & hovers around you when actually fishing. A bit uncomfortable. *overall very disappointing, frustrating & a waste of cash, seriously. Camping ground & other things may be good. But as far as catching a barra. Not the place to go Really shonky practice's going on here. Stay clear
