Bridge · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
Scale the top of Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge to enjoy 360-degree views of the city, mountain ranges, and Moreton Bay Islands at dawn, afternoon, or night. These climbing adventures are available daily. The tour guides, who are expert climbers, explain the route and monitor safety. Necessary equipment (including sunscreen, sunglasses, rain-resistant jackets, and hats) is provided. For visitors preferring to stay close to the ground, there are riverside walks nearby. These are especially popular at dusk, when the bridge is illuminated with purple lighting all around its edges. The bridge, which opened in 1940, is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. A visit to Story Bridge represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Brisbane trip planner to plot your vacation.

  • Story Bridge's industrial profile is remarkably memorable but it can be seen from half pf the city. Going on the bridge is best in a car - the side paths are very noisy and smoky and a bit too narrow....  more »
  • nice position in city and good to walk across, good for getting photos. LIt up in the evening in colours, a pity they use the gay flag colours sometimes.  more »

  • It's a bridge. You can use it to cross the river. It didn't seem to have a story though. And I didn't find any trolls underneath. It lights up pretty... But so do all the bridges in Brisbane. I guess in a storm it would even count at a bridge over troubled waters. I do recommend caution if driving over this bridge with a specific destination in mind - there's very specific lanes with signage that is unclear and irrelevant to non locals who don't already know where they're going. Especially in peak traffic times. But for a bridge that traverses a river, it does the job as promised.
  • Park fairly clean but undercover seating smells like urine. It's a pity because the toilets are reasonably close and fairly clean. Has disability parking and toilets. During the weekdays easy parking and not very busy.
