Triplet Falls, Beech Forest

Must see · Waterfall · Nature / Park
The Triplet Falls are waterfalls located in the Great Otway National Park of Victoria, in eastern Australia, 200 km (approximately 125 mi) from Melbourne via Colac and Gellibrand, or 70 km (approximately 43 mi) from Apollo Bay.
The falls are fed by the Young Creek and as the name suggests there are three falls that cascade over a lush rainforest to the floor of the valley. The three streams normally flow when there has been significant rain upstream, so it is not uncommon to see only one or two streams flowing.

Triplet Falls are nestled amongst the ancient forests of Mountain Ash and Myrtle Beech.

  • We are a couple aged 68 & 69 (with knee replacements) who completed the loop in one hour. Many shallow steps down and some steep steps up. I appreciated the walkways constructed of metal mesh that was easy on the joints and you could see the flora below. Benches placed in strategic spots for resting and observation. Glad we did it. It is a beautiful experience.
  • Approx ~2.5km or less loop hike. Lovely peaceful place inside a wonderful forest with huge red truck trees. The trail is easy. And there is slippery section which can take you the bottom of the falls. It could be difficult so don't try it unless you are confident you can take it
